UNITED WAY COVID-19 FUND RECEIVES $50,000 FROM MISSOURI FOUNDATION FOR HEALTH

Hannibal, Mo. – The United Way of the Mark Twain Area has received a $50,000

investment from the Missouri Foundation for Health for the organization’s COVID-19

Response Fund.

Dollars given to the fund are directed to local non-profit organizations that are assisting

individuals with their needs during this time. Many local organizations are increasing

their services, having to provide services differently, and/or are creating new programs

to help individuals with needs due to COVID-19.

Local non-profit organizations providing direct needs based services in Lewis, Marion,

Monroe, Ralls, and/or Shelby Counties are invited to apply for funding from the COVID-19

Response Fund at https://unitedwaymta.org/special-initiatives

United Way has awarded several mini-grants from their COVID-19 Response Fund thus

far.

$1,000 – Douglass Community Services to purchase food for their emergency food

pantry

$1,000 – To Harvest Outreach Ministries for the Loaves and Fishes Program

$1,500 – To Paris Senior Center to help support their senior feeding efforts

$1,500 – To Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center to help support their senior feeding

efforts

Those initial gifts were largely made possible due to an investment from General Mills.

Individuals are encouraged to make contributions to the fund by mailing payments to
