NECAC Offers Job Skills Help

The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) can offer free help to people who’ve lost their jobs due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Job skills classes are being offered in Ralls County and the agency’s other 11 service centers. While the facilities are open, doors are locked to limit traffic. So, people interested in job skills should call to have information sent electronically or through the mail.
“We know the virus has had an economic impact on communities, employers and families,” said NECAC County Services Programs Director Linda Fritz. “We want those who are unemployed to know that help is available.”
The classwork includes information about writing a resume, preparing for an interview and standing out among a crowd of applicants. In addition, skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, time management, use of technology and employee responsibility are discussed.
“Many of the lessons are common sense things that people sometimes forget, especially if they have worked at one job for a long time and are just now being forced back into the market for a new position,” Fritz said. “There are often new protocols and additional presentation skills that are necessary now.”
More information is available by calling the NECAC Ralls County Service Center, 411 Main in New London, at 573-985-2411.
