Letter to the Editor

It is truly sad that it took an international health crisis to avert, or at least substantially curtail, the usual election year pandemic of unmitigated slander and “snake oil” promises.
However, it is blatantly evident that subliminal electioneering is running rampant. Virtually every “news” broadcast is comprised primarily of opinionated evaluations of what their capsulized version of information might mean or imply.
While this is not limited to any one politically oriented “news” source, liberal media does seem to proliferate.
That being said, the whole concept of “network electioneering” equally deprives the public of honest “reporting” and, by its unceasing drone begins to mimic the propaganda infusion of countries that are criticized for not honestly informing their populations.
In this time of crisis, the unceasing expenditure of focus by “anti-trumpers” of any political affiliation to influence electoral process is not only counter-productive, but triggers a like disruption of focus in response.
Particularly now, but in general, eliminating a sitting elected official from holding that office is not the solution. The solution is stating clearly the aspects of a formulated plan that is realistically achievable to realize a viable social-economic environment.
Whatever mistakes might have been made by previous government, whatever mistakes might be currently presenting, it should be remembered that our system of government is comprised of three, equally powerful branches. If one branch errors or over-steps, it is the duty of the other two branches to intercede.
It is neither the option or the authority of any fraction of the media to presume the power of a branch of our constitutional government.
Realizing that the media assumes that they are communicating with a fifth-grade mentality, and realizing that many statements by political figures conform to that standard; “just the facts” would better serve than the lecture that most fifth-graders and basically all teens tune out anyway.
Facts are like pollen and can come to bear fruit.
