FURTHER INFORMATION RELEASED ON MARION COUNTY'S FIFTH POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19

May 05, 2020

Today, May 5, the Marion County Health Department announced its fifth positive case of COVID-19, a female in the age range of 20 to 30 who is quarantined at home. Hannibal Regional would like to follow-up on this announcement in stating that this positive case is a team member of Hannibal Regional, and tracing of all potential contacts this individual has had is currently underway. Initial review shows that this individual had interaction with a very limited number of patients, as well as other Hannibal Regional team members. Additionally, this individual took all precautions when interacting with patients and did not come to work after becoming ill. While the Marion County Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of that individual who were possibly exposed, Hannibal Regional is completing their contact tracing as well and anyone who has had exposure will be personally contacted. Hannibal Regional would like to assure the community that there was very minimal exposure to patients or other team members when the individual was at work.

Todd Ahrens, CEO/President of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System states, “The safety of our patients, guests and team members continues to be the number one priority in our fight against COVID-19. We are working closely with the Marion County Health Department to assist in the contact tracing on this positive case, and assure our community that we continue to follow all best practices in the fight against this virus.” Hannibal Regional reminds everyone to follow CDC guidelines in steps to mitigate the spread of the virus, and contact their provider should they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms.
