Monroe County Appeal is an ESSENTIAL Business

March 23, 2020

This letter is to certify that I, Robin Gregg, is a Publisher and Sales Manager with Monroe County Appeal in Paris, Missouri, will continue to conduct activities related to the publishing of any news, news identified by the federal government’s Cyber Security & Infrastructure Agency (CISA), as well as various state authorities, as an essential service. The Appeal will NOT be closing or stopping production. The office is closed however due to preventative measures.

During this critical time, it is vital for news publishers to provide our communities with factual, reliable information. CISA issued an advisory list of essential critical infrastructure workers on March 19, including workers who “support radio, television, and media service, including, but not limited to front line news reporters, studio, and technicians for news gathering and reporting.” This is reasonably interpreted to include all personnel directly involved with producing print news, including reporters, printers, and editors, as well as personnel directly involved with distributing newspapers, such as drivers. While the CISA definition is advisory, several states and localities, including New York, Pennsylvania, and California counties have adopted similar exemptions for news media.

If you have anything you need to place into our newspaper or online advertising, please let us know. We are still a full operating paper in this State of Emergency due to COVID-19.

Janice Carman and Aimee Higgins are actively working as if we were open as well. Please let us know if you have any questions at EMAIL: robingregg@monroecountyappeal.com or PHONE NUMBER: 660-591-3641.

Sincerely,

Robin Gregg
