Monroe County Health Department Update

According to Paula Delaney, Monroe County Health Department Adminstrator says, “As of 2:00 p.m. April 2, the State of Missouri had 1,834 positive test results, and 19 deaths due to COVID-19. Thus far, there have been no positive test results in Monroe County.
The Governor's orders for social distancing (no more than 10 people together, and keeping 6' distance between people) expire at 12:01 a.m. April 6. I expect that he will extend or modify these orders at his press conference today at 3:00 p.m.
Many businesses are closed to the public, if not totally closed. Should a stay-at-home order be issued by the State or County, it will require people to cease all activities away from home that are not approved as essential.
The health department is closed to the public, but services are being provided after the patron is screened for possible disease. The Federal and State governments have waived many rules of the WIC program, allowing us to hold appointments with participants by phone and distributing monthly vouchers to participants by mail.
Should a person believe they may have contracted COVID-19, they should call their doctor or an emergency room for instructions on how to be examined for potential disease. A medical provider's order is required to have a COVID-19 test. Testing sites are available in many areas.
