The United Way of the Mark Twain Area has launched the Emergency Food Security Fund to support local food pantries during the ongoing federal shutdown, which will pause SNAP benefits for more than 6,200 individuals across Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Ralls, and Shelby Counties starting in November.
Dollars raised through this fund will provide assistance to food pantries and feeding programs to help them meet the surge in demand and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Every dollar donated stays local, providing food and essential supplies directly to families in need.
Any remaining funds after the emergency response will continue to support local programs through United Way's annual campaign, strengthening the safety net of services that help families year-round.
