Monroe County Health Department Reports More Positive Cases of COVID-19

Monroe County Health Department is announcing a positive case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). It was reported to the health department after hours last night, on July 30. The case is NOT travel-related. The patient is quarantined at home and the investigation into close contacts was begun this morning.

Three additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The cases are NOT travel-related. The county has 10 recovered cases and a total of 6 active cases of COVID-19 at this time.

Monroe County Health Department was notified of a positive COVID-19 case, and it was determined that he/she visited Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Madison, MO on July 26, 2020, for morning services. Direct contacts were unable to be identified during contact tracing. If you were at Pleasant Green Baptist Church for Sunday morning services on Sunday, July 26, 2020, please monitor for symptoms until August 9, 2020.

It is important to remember that anyone you come into contact with could be a potential carrier. Please take preventative measures at all times to help reduce the risk of contracting the virus.

We would like to remind everyone to continue practicing social distancing, wearing a mask in public, practicing good hygiene, and staying home if you are sick.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider:

• Cough

• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

• Fatigue

• Muscle or body aches

• Headache

• Loss of taste or smell

• Sore throat

• Congestion or runny nose

• Nausea or vomiting

• Diarrhea

Health Department staff are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of that individual who were possibly exposed. If there were any, health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

The health department urges the public to take appropriate precautions including good hygiene, social distancing and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps.
